"Author of "The Divine Comedy," Dante is considered one of the greatest writers of fictional literature in history. His figure stands 11 1/2 feet tall, made of bronze by sculptor Ettore Ximenes of Rome. The statue represents Dante in the robe of a scholar, wearing a crown of laurel."
